During this first week in the Inner Mean Girl Cleanse, I had the opportunity to watch how catching gossip is and how hurtful it is. I definitely had the thought during this week," I don't participate in gossip ," yet sure enought it creeped in.
The situation that brought this to me is that my 16 year old daughter talks to me in Hawaii by phone a couple times a day while she is training in Las Vegas. She is also participating in this cleanse. So she called me telling me that her aerial teacher was mad at her because of what she had heard other girls said my daughter had said. It was a real mess! What got me was why this teacher was even participating in the rumors and why she was going to check in with the other girl's story before checking out the truth from my daughter. Anyways, I became like a mother wolf wanting to protect my daughter's innocense and then further, I started to get worked up and judgemental about this teacher. It was very easy for me to go on the bandwagon about the teacher and her poor choices. The gossip goo had entered. Luckily, I was able to switch the conversation into a more positive direction and support my daughter by reminding her that we cannot control what others think, say, or do. And we can only control what we think, say, and do.
After this event, I found myself telling a few of my loved ones what had happened and I noticed I was spreading the goo even further yet it was somewhat unconscious. It took some time for me to see the irony of this experience and how it had come to the surface during our first week of the cleanse for a reason. So I'm now thankful for the lesson of how easy it is to get sucked in. I'm giving myself greater Awareness and Self-Love, and I'm redirecting the gooey gossip into words from my Heart.
I am participating in the Inner Mean Girl 40-day Cleanse as a Self-Love Ambassador. To thank me for my participation, I will receive a self-love gift from the founders of
